John Borgerding
Chief Executive Officer
John is Chief Executive Officer of SumTotal Systems and provides extensive leadership advancing the company’s complete talent management strategy, while ensuring continued customer success and a focus on delivering real business value to our global customer base.
Before assuming his current role, John served as Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Ventyx, a leading business solutions provider to global energy, utility, communications, and other asset-intensive organizations. At Ventyx, he was responsible for the development, implementation, support and consulting for all Ventyx solutions globally. In addition, John was responsible for the advisory solutions and consulting practices, and intelligence software products.
Prior to taking over the global services organizations, John served as the Vice President of International Sales and was based in the Ventyx UK office for four years. In this capacity, he was successful in building an international sales and marketing organization and extending the Ventyx customer base into multiple new markets and countries.
John was with Ventyx and its predecessor company, Indus International, since 2002. Prior to joining Ventyx, he spent seven years at Xerox Corporation in sales, product management and sales management. As director of sales for major accounts he was responsible for leading a team to sell hardware, software and outsourcing solutions.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri.
Hardeep Gulati
Executive Vice President, Products and Customer Support
Hardeep is Executive Vice President of Products and Customer Support at SumTotal Systems and is responsible for leading innovation and driving product direction. He brings a wealth of technical and product management expertise to SumTotal Systems.
Hardeep joined SumTotal from Oracle where he provided years of leadership in product development, product management and product strategy across a variety of enterprise application areas. Most recently he served as Vice President of Product Strategy for Oracle Corp for Product Lifecycle Management and Master Data Management, where he played a key management role to bring these product lines from concept to market leadership with organic and acquisition strategies, including a key acquisition of Agile Software Corp, a public company.
Prior to Oracle, Hardeep was Vice President of Products at SpinCircuit, an information exchange enterprise software company founded by Cadence, HP, Flextronics, and Avnet. He was also founder and CTO for eBizAutomation, an enterprise integration company that was acquired by SpinCircuit. Early in his career, Hardeep held senior consulting positions at Lucent Technologies and Dun & Bradstreet.
Hardeep holds a Master's in Business Administration from Wharton Business School. He also received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology in Nagpur, India and a Master's in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India.
Jeffrey Laborde
Chief Financial Officer
Jeff Laborde is the Chief Financial Officer of SumTotal Systems and responsible for worldwide finance, accounting, legal, human resources, information technology, customer renewals and recruiting. In his current role, Jeff works closely with the executive team to help define and align resources and execute on the company's strategic vision.
Prior to joining SumTotal in July 2012, Jeff spent over 15 years in various roles within the financial advisory services industry. Most recently, he was a Managing Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Technology, Media & Telecom Group based in San Francisco. Jeff started his banking career in Credit Suisse First Boston’s Technology Investment Banking Group. Prior to business school, he was a member of Arthur Andersen’s Enterprise Audit Group based out of Washington, D.C.
Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management & Accounting from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and his Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He also received his CPA license in the state of Virginia in 1997.
David Osborne
Executive Vice President, Global Services and OnDemand Operations
David is Executive Vice President of Global Services and OnDemand Operations at SumTotal, overseeing worldwide services of all HR solutions for customers.
David has 17 years of professional services experience, including managing large worldwide workforces, profit & loss management, account management, and global operations. He joined SumTotal from Lawson Software, where he served in senior global management and was responsible for running delivery operations for Lawson's Enterprise Resource Planning and Human Capital Management products and Application Managed Services (AMS). Prior to Lawson, he worked at Infor, a premiere Enterprise Resource Planning provider where he held various posts including Global VP of AMS Sales and Delivery.
David holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Colorado State University.
Rishi Rana
General Manager - India & APAC
Rishi is the General Manager for India and APAC for SumTotal Systems. In this critical role, he oversees operations of the SumTotal India office and manages the services business across the APAC region, which includes Australia and Japan. Rishi brings more than 17 years of extensive experience in building and managing large cross-functional global teams. He also has a proven track record in developing complex, performance-critical software solutions and products across various domains.
For several years prior to this position, Rishi served as the Vice President of Services for SumTotal. He has demonstrated excellence in evaluating and working with other companies to generate strategic partnerships, as well as in masterminding the end-to-end development of a number of world-class products.
Before his tenure with SumTotal, Rishi relocated from the United States to become the co-founder of Microsoft’s Global Services arm in India. Preceding that venture, he held several leadership and executive positions with other software powerhouses, including Adobe and Micrografx.
Rishi is the recipient of several awards in management excellence, communication and mentoring. In addition, he is an avid speaker at top IT industry conferences worldwide. He holds a BS in Computer Science & Math and an MBA, both from Texas A&M University, USA.
Holly Rollo
Chief Marketing Officer
Holly is Chief Marketing Officer at SumTotal Systems. She is responsible for all of the marketing functions, including worldwide field marketing, solutions marketing, corporate communications and analyst relations.
Holly has more than 20 years of experience in developing business and marketing strategies and leading global growth for enterprise technology companies. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Global Marketing at SuccessFactors.
Prior to her executive role at SuccessFactors, Holly led the SaaS/SME and partner marketing efforts at Cisco, and at SAP, she oversaw global marketing for SaaS/SME and solutions marketing.
Holly also held senior marketing roles at Sybase, Veritas and IBM and has more than ten years’ experience in cloud-based computing.
Bill Shaheen
Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Bill is Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales at SumTotal Systems. He is responsible for all of the sales functions that interface with customers and prospective customers.
Bill has been in the software industry since 1984 and in the human capital management sector since 2002, initially as Vice President with Unicru. Following Unicru, he held various sales roles with Taleo, including Group Vice President of North American Enterprise Sales and all sales in Asia Pacific.
Bill was with Taleo for eight years, where he contributed significantly to the company’s dramatic growth and market leadership position. Most recently, he joined SumTotal from Oracle, where he served as a Group Vice President of Sales.
Over the course of his career, Bill has consistently built sales teams that are designed to work collaboratively with customers and drive accelerated growth. Prior to entering into sales, he held multiple positions as an application software engineer.
Bill earned a Bachelor’s in Computer Science degree from Westfield State College and a Master’s in Computer Science from Boston University.
Jeff Lyons
Chief of Staff
Jeff is Chief of Staff at SumTotal Systems and is responsible for driving strategic projects for the company. He has managed the integration of four acquired businesses and led several key change initiatives as SumTotal transformed itself into the largest independent provider of integrated HR solutions.
Jeff has 20 years of software industry experience. Prior to joining SumTotal, he was the co-founder and Chief Client Officer of MindSolve Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in the area of performance management software that SumTotal acquired in 2006. At MindSolve and SumTotal, Jeff has held leadership positions in development, customer support, sales and professional services.
Jeff earned a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the University of Florida. He is also a former adjunct faculty member of the Information Systems Department at Santa Fe College.
